Be careful when bringing in and taking out money across the Iraqi borders and adopt official methods in transferring large amounts of money through financial institutions to avoid being subject to legal accountability. Based on the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Law No. (39) of 2015 and the provisions and instructions No. (3) of 2023, the following must be adhered to:
Adhere to the permissible limit for carrying cash amounts when traveling outside Iraq and entering it without (10,000) thousand US dollars and its equivalent in other currencies without declaring it and not carrying large amounts of money that exceed the permissible limit that require declaring it and presenting what supports the purpose of taking it out or bringing in these amounts.
It is prohibited to bring in or take out amounts exceeding (20,000) US dollars or its equivalent in other currencies, and the process of bringing in or taking out these amounts is exclusively through financial institutions.
It is prohibited to enter or exit amounts exceeding (1,000,000) one million Iraqi dinars even if they are declared, and the amount will be seized and legal measures will be taken against the money carrier or the person in whose possession the money was found.
To protect your electronic card data from fraud and hacking, please adhere to the following: Do not allow it to be photographed or shared with any party under any circumstances, as the image of the card or its data is not considered an official document or proof of identity. Use the card only for the purposes for which it was issued, such as purchasing or booking online, or withdrawing cash or paying through points of sale (POS) on trusted sites. Avoid sharing card data and using the card on an untrusted website.
We emphasize the importance of not misusing your electronic card and not dealing and trading in cryptocurrencies, virtual currencies, network marketing / pyramid, gambling services and trading through unlicensed platforms in compliance with the instructions of the Central Bank of Iraq.
